B&O Plattenspieler geht nur auf einen Kanal

Hi,

You have 4 possible causes:

1)
Pick-up is defective. Remove it and looking at the front of the pick-up arm you will see 4 connection-pin's that make the contact with the pick-up. The outer contacts are ground but the 2 center-pin's are right and left output (counting from the left). Start the player (with pick-up still removed) and use a small needle to gently touch the center-pins. You should hear a hum in each channel. If you do, the pick-up is defective. If one channel is still missing look at 2)

2)
Wire is broken-off inside the DIN-plug. Open it and verify Left-channel (Pin-3) and Right-channel (Pin-5) besides Screen/Ground (Pin-2) wires are in place. If not, resolder. If they are OK look at 3)

3)
Inside the player is a Muting-Switch. It has been known to cause problems like this. Of course you need to take the player apart to check the function of this switch. Be carefull, the pick-up arm is fragile! Check with an Ohm-meter that the muting-switch doesn't short the faulty channel to ground. Repair the switch if defective or remove connections to it. You will hear some noise from the pick-up landing if the switch is missing but at least you have sound in both channels. If switch is OK look at 4)

4)
Thin wire from front of tone-arm to where the muting-switch is connected is broken inside the tone-arm tube. NOW you are in trouble. Go buy another turn-table.

Hallo Teabreak,

habe mir auch einen Beogram 1902 zugelegt und über einen 5-pol. DIN/Cinch-Adapter (mit Erdung) an meinen Verstärker angeschlossen. Ich habe exakt das gleiche Problem: Der linke Kanal geht – der rechte ist tot.

Nun meine Frage: Dein Eintrag ist schon sehr alt, hat sich in der Zwischenzeit mal herausgestellt, woran es liegt?
